We received these dice sets from Runic Dice for this review. As always, all opinions are entirely our own.
Who Are Runic Dice?
Runic Dice is a veteran-owned business based in Scarborough, Maine, dedicated to crafting high-quality dice and tabletop gaming accessories.
What started as a small operation has grown into a trusted brand known for beautiful designs on everything from their gemstone dice to their gigantic Resin Chonk.
Gemstone Raised Dichroic Glass DnD Dice Set
Let’s start with the showstopper: the Gemstone Raised Dichroic Glass Dice Set. These dice aren’t just shiny math rocks—they’re table jewelry. Carved from dichroic glass and accented with raised numerals, every single piece in this set glimmers with shifting colors in the light. Rolling these dice feels like you’re looking at a Dancing Lights spell.
This is a full polyhedral set of seven dice—d4 through d100—and every die manages to catch the light to display a dazzling array of color.
Don’t believe me? Just watch:
The Carrying Case
Each full set comes with a free upgraded dice box (just be aware it’s not the one pictured on their site anymore—it’s a leather case similar to the one in the above picture—it’s been improved for better protection) and a felt pouch if you’re grabbing a single d20.
I’ve received a fair few dice in my time, and I’ve got to say that this leather dice holder is one of the nicer carrying cases I’ve seen. It’s got stitched edging and an inset emblem, and it magnetically shuts to keep your precious cargo safe during transport.
Rolling Experience and Durability
Because they’re made of glass, these dice feel delicate and need to be treated with care. You’ll want to use a dice tray or soft surface when rolling. I would also caution against rolling multiple dice together, as they have the potential to chip when tumbling around against one another.
Smoke and Blood Resin DnD Dice Set
If the gemstone glass set is the refined aristocrat, then the Smoke and Blood Resin Dice Set is the hardened mercenary. They’re evocative, dramatic, and seriously cool to behold. The translucent blend of colors looks great in daylight and even better under table lighting—these dice practically beg to be rolled during an intense Initiative roll.
Runic Dice also definitely has a unique style when it comes to its resin sets. They are slightly larger than your average dice set and feature interesting, gem-like shapes for the d4, d8, d10, and d100. As someone who quite dislikes a conventional pyramidal d4, I may have to roll up a Magic Missile-happy Wizard so that I can roll this sweet d4 more.
One other thing to note is that these dice are as sharp as the pointy end of a Rogue’s blade. I find the clean edges and sharp points greatly emphasize the evocative feeling of this set. As long as you aren’t wildly rolling them around and subsequently step on one, you’ll be safe from harm.
The Carrying Case
These dice come in a similar carrying case to the one mentioned above.
Durability and Design
Unlike the glass set, these are built to take a beating. Resin dice strike that perfect balance between beauty and reliability. They feel great in the hand, have satisfying heft, and are tough enough to stand up to a full campaign’s worth of rolls without flinching. If you love your dice with flavor but don’t want to baby them, this is the set to grab.
The Verdict
Whether you lean toward ethereal elegance or brutal flair, Runic Dice has you covered. The Gemstone Raised Dichroic Glass set is ideal for collectors and players who want to make a statement. It’s gorgeous, refined, and worthy of display—but needs to be handled with care.
The Smoke and Blood Resin set is a rock-solid choice for adventurers who like their dice with a bit of drama but don’t want to worry about wear and tear. It’s bold, battle-ready, and built to roll.
Either way, you’re adding serious style to your adventurer’s kit—and isn’t that what the best dice are all about?
