Spell Description
This spell grants the creature you touch the ability to understand any spoken language it hears. Moreover, when the target speaks, any creature that knows at least one language and can hear the target understands what it says.

Overall Rating: Orange. This means that tongues is an OK spell.
Overall Notes: Most of the time, it will be tough to justify a 3rd-level spell for the effect this produces. Of course, understanding a creature and allowing it to understand you could have the potential to stop a terrible situation unfolding. This is a spell that would be worthwhile to prepare for specific situations, but is too niche to consider stocking all the time.
Class Specific Ratings for Tongues
School of Divination wizard: You can see read any language when you get The Third Eye at 10th level, so make sure get around preparing this spell if you're able to get whatever creature you're trying to understand to simply write down what they're hoping to communicate. This may not be useful in high tension scenarios, but it can likely reduce the need to stock the spell.
