What Is the Boon of Dimensional Travel Feat in 5e?
Ever wanted to BAMF across the battlefield like a certain teleporting X-Men?! This Epic Boon allows you to teleport across the battlefield immediately after taking the Attack or Magic action without expending any resources, making it one of the best mobility-enhancing feats in the game.
Whether you need to reposition to a strategic vantage point, escape a deadly melee foe, or chase down an escaping enemy, this boon makes you nearly untouchable.
How Does Boon of Dimensional Travel Work?
Boon of Dimensional Travel is one of the Epic Boons found in the 2024 Player’s Handbook. Unlike regular feats, Epic Boons are only available to characters who reach level 19, making them a capstone reward for legendary heroes.
When you take the Boon of Dimensional Travel, you gain the following benefits:
- Ability Score Increase: Increase one ability score of your choice by 1, to a maximum of 30. The maximum of 30 is (typically) impossible to hit if you’ll just be playing to level 20. Instead, it’s meant to be a reward for gaining levels beyond level 20 as described on page 46 of the 2024 Player’s Handbook.
- Blink Steps: After taking the Attack or Magic action, you can teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see. This teleportation is at-will, meaning you can reposition every turn without expending resources. Also, it’s activated by taking the Attack or Magic action, making it useful for martial and caster classes.
How to Get the Boon of Dimensional Travel Feat
Any class can pick up the Boon of Dimensional Travel feat when they reach level 19 and gain the Epic Boon class feature.

The ability to teleport basically at-will every turn is a solid ability for any build. It enhances both offensive and defensive playstyles, allowing melee-focused martials to close in or ranged casters to avoid getting surrounded. While it doesn’t necessarily allow you to output more damage, it’s incredibly versatile in and out of combat and, when used strategically, can certainly help turn the tide of a battle in your favor.
This boon is a nightmare for foes who rely on Opportunity Attacks or locking down movement. Melee fighters can weave in and out of combat freely, ranged attackers can maintain optimal distance, and spellcasters can reposition without provoking Opportunity Attacks. Even if an enemy does get close, you can blink away on your next turn.
Which 5e Classes Make the Most of Boon of Dimensional Travel?

- Red: Weak, unlikely to contribute to your build
- Orange: Situationally good, but below average
- Green: A solid choice
- Blue: A great option worth considering

Artificer: Artificers benefit greatly from repositioning in battle, especially when using ranged attacks.
Barbarian: Being able to teleport around the battlefield after making Reckless Attacks is a great buff. Your enemies will struggle to pin you down and capitalize on the Advantage on attacks against you.
Bard: Staying mobile is a great way for Bards to avoid getting hit. This feat lets them cast a big spell and then teleport away, preventing retaliation.
Cleric: Combined with Spiritual Guardians, this feat turns you into a Radiant-damage-dealing lawn mower. It can also help you navigate the battlefield to bestow touch-based buffs, debuffs, or healing spells.
Druid: Staying mobile is a great way for Druid to avoid getting hit. This feat lets them cast a big spell and then teleport away, preventing retaliation.
Fighter: With this feat, you can always go where the fighting is thickest. It also helps mitigate melee-based Fighters who don't have as effective of a ranged option.
Monk: Monks thrive on movement, and this boon makes them untouchable.
Paladin: Paladins typically struggle with mobility, so adding teleportation to their toolkit helps them close gaps and reach priority targets with ease.
Ranger: Rangers benefit greatly from repositioning in battle, especially when using ranged attacks.
Rogue: Rogues love mobility, and this helps them consistently position for using the Hide action to enable their Sneak Attack.
Sorcerer: Staying mobile is a great way for Sorcerers to avoid getting hit. This feat lets them cast a big spell and then teleport away, preventing retaliation.
Warlock: Whether you're a melee Hexblade or ranged cantrip-based build, this will help you blink around the battlefield to avoid damage and position for maximum effectiveness.
Wizard: A fantastic tool for Wizards who want to reposition without provoking Opportunity Attacks or spending spell slots on Misty Step.
